St Mary’s Pre-School was registered in 1980, has charity status and is run by a trustee committee. It is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation and our charity number is 1171309. St Mary’s operates from a single storey building in the grounds of St Mary’s Church in South Holmwood, near Dorking, Surrey. In addition, the children benefit from a designated, secure Outdoor Learning Area and a comprehensive 1.5 acre Forest School space.

Our Pre-School offers education and care for children below school age and over the age of two years. A child may start as soon as they are two years old.

Sessions

The Pre-School is open each weekday in term time from 9am until 3pm offering full day or part day options. Breakfast club and late pick-up is offered.

Setting

The large room is divided into various learning areas including table top activities, floor based activities, small areas to work either individually, 1:1, or in small groups, and we also offer cosy quiet areas. This layout encourages free flowing opportunity for learning.

A free flow enclosed area is used for outside play the whole year unless conditions make this unsafe, for example severe weather. We also make full use of the local environment eg village walks, church ground visits, as well as visits to our nearby outdoor learning area and Forest School woods. The Pre-School serves the local area, nearby villages and extended villages/Dorking town.
